Thank you for your interest in our mission efforts
in Haiti. APA
has been working in the country of Haiti since 1984 when we first
teamed with missionaries to bring help to the people of Haiti.
We provided tents (see pictures) which made up the first accommodations
in this upstart mission. Since then we have been blessed to work
with medical clinics, orphanages, churches, pastors, schools,
and individuals throughout several of the rural areas. Many of
our members have traveled to Haiti and been involved in contributing
to their spiritual development, building projects, and feeding
programs. Now, in light of the recent earthquake, our friends
in Haiti need us more than ever!
Located in the Caribbean, between the Caribbean
Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, lies the island of Hispaniola.
The eastern two thirds of the island make up the Dominican Republic,
while the eastern one third makes up the country of Haiti, the
poorest country in the western hemisphere. It is slightly smaller
than the state of Maryland. Haiti is mostly rough and mountainous
with a tropical climate. Since it is in the hurricane belt it
is subject to severe storms from June to October. Haiti is also
subject to occasional flooding, earthquakes and drought. Extensive
deforestation has caused a great deal of soil erosion. Throughout
the country supplies of potable water are inadequate.
Here in the US we take for granted so much that
many of the Haitian people only dream of. Haiti is the poorest
country in the western hemisphere. If you are able, we ask that
you join us in our relief efforts to the Haitian people through
your prayers, and contributions.
Thank you and God bless you in your service of
Him through serving His children…
