Worship
We need to know that worship is NOT singing. Singing becomes
worship as we use it to give honor and respect and glory to God.
Singing then is only a part of our worship. Bowing ourselves to
God by studying His Word is another part of our worship. How often
do we hear the person who teaches us God’s Word referred
to as a worship leader? As they show us how to study God’s
truths they certainly are leading us in our worship…
Elements of worship;
Gen. 22:7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said,
My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold
the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
John 4:21-24 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour
cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem,
worship the Father. 22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what
we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour cometh,
and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father
in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship
him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship
him in spirit and in truth.
Just like Abraham’s worship, in Gen 22:7, had the elements
of fire, wood, and the lamb; Jesus tells us, in John 4, the elements
of true worship are spirit, truth, and the worshipper.
| Genesis |
John |
| Fire |
Spirit = (Pnuema) Holy Ghost, spirit of God, spirit of truth… |
| Wood |
Truth = reality, fact, certainly… |
| Lamb |
Worshipper = God’s foremost creation…YOU! |
I John 4:13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us,
because he hath given us
of his Spirit.
Because we are in Him, we can function in true worship…
as the lamb in perfect
submission to God our father.

Worship is not only a physical bowing down of our bodies, but
also a bowing of
our will and desires to His will and desire.
Abraham knew the goodness and greatness of God and chose to give
homage to
Him. The emphasis in our worship is not on us, and what we do,
but rather on
God and what He has done!
Why do we worship Him?? Because of who HE IS…
almighty, everlasting,
omniscient, omnipresent, … Because of what HE HAS done…saved
us, loved
us, cleansed us, empowered us, …
Both for who He is and for what He has done we respect, revere,
do homage,
…WORSHIP HIM!
“Worship is human response to a gracious God”
